UK scholars say Birmingham Koran may predate Muhammad

A copy of the Koran that was discovered at Birmingham University last month may predate the Prophet Muhammad, UK researchers said on Monday. Scientists at the University of Oxford carbon dated the manuscript and concluded that it was created between 568 AD and 645 AD. Speaking to "The Times", historian Tom Holland said that the discovery "destabilises, to put it mildly, the idea that we can know anything with certainty about how the Quran emerged".
